Community Guidelines

Last updated: for stakeholder preview review

Draft for review. This policy is published for the Deafopia stakeholder preview. It must be reviewed and approved by Deafopia (and legal counsel where appropriate) before real attendee data is collected.

Why we have albums

Community photo albums let attendees share the story of a Deafopia event — the joy, the crowds, the art, the sign. Every photo is reviewed by a Deafopia organizer before it appears, to keep the albums a safe space for everyone who came.

What's welcome

  • Photos from the event you attended.
  • Performers, booths, art, food, and the venue in its best light.
  • People celebrating — when they're comfortable being photographed (see consent below).

What's not allowed

  • Content that harasses, mocks, or targets any person or group.
  • Offensive language, gestures, or signage, including in the background of an otherwise fine photo.
  • Photos of attendees who clearly don't want to be photographed, or of children without a guardian's consent.
  • Sexual, violent, or graphic content.
  • Content you don't have the right to share, including others' photos.
  • Anything illegal or that promotes illegal activity.

Consent at events

Ask before you photograph a fellow attendee, and respect a no. Deafopia events are a shared space; the album should feel good to appear in. If someone asks a Deafopia organizer to remove a photo of them, we will.

How moderation works

  • Photos you upload are private until a Deafopia organizer approves them.
  • We may decline or remove any photo that violates these guidelines, without notice.
  • Repeated violations can result in losing upload access or your account.
  • If a photo of you needs to come down, contact Deafopia through the support channel in the app and we'll remove it.

Privacy in every upload

Location (GPS) and other hidden metadata are stripped from every photo on our servers before storage — nobody can learn where a photo was taken from the file itself. Details about data handling are in the Privacy Policy.
